It’s the first of January and my first day of self care. I’ve spent most of the Christmas holidays in pain from tooth ache (and the arthritis). So I didn’t really feel very festive. On the plus side, the painkillers worked most of the time, and we have enough alcohol left over to last us until next Christmas!
When I wasn’t dosing myself up to the eyeballs and trying to get some sleep, I was researching self care and filling out my Inspire Me journal, which i’ll be using to keep track of my to do lists, routines and general well being. I’m feeling positive about 2020…it’s going to be a busy year, but with lots of things to look forward to.
So lets get down to the self care nitty gritty. I decided to ease myself into it gradually, start small and work my way up. Todays focus is affirmations. I was brought up under the old adage that you don’t “blow your own trumpet” so celebrating my strengths and achievement’s is alien to me, and quite uncomfortable. Choosing an affirmation each morning will hopefully boost my confidence and help me deal with the negativity I often feel. I found an interesting article on Psychology Today which explains why affirmations are such a great thing. I’ve found some good ones on line that really resonate with me, but I would like to experiment with writing my own at some stage.
Before i sign off for the day i’ll leave you with this brilliant quote from the Inspire Now journal.

So i’ve taken my first practical step towards the life I want to live, and now, where did I put those blooming painkillers?
Hi Vikki, I shall be reading with interest, as I too have been planning self care for this next decade. Enjoy, lots of love Sam x

I’m glad I stumbled across your blog today. I used to read your blogs years ago when I was doing my writing notebook blog 2011/2012. I recognised your photo and name when I was searching for other people blogging about clutter, as I started a daily blog on small decluttering improvements this year. So great that I’ve bumped into you again. I shall be catching up on your daily blogs over the next few days 🙂

Hi, I have been blogging on and off over the years but not as much as I would like… you know how life gets busy. On 1st Jan I came up with the idea of writing and decluttering at the same time so that I don’t keep giving up. Really good to cross paths again. Good luck to you too xx
