In The Happiness Project, (love that book!) Gretchen Rubin talks about tackling a nagging task and how it can boost your mood when you get it done. Blimey…I have so many of these that I don’t even know where to start lol. But hey, you just gotta start somewhere with something, right?
Late last year my husband and I started to declutter our garage. It was filled back in 2016 when we first moved into this house, and hadn’t been touched since. One of the things we dug out was my Nan’s mirror. I inherited it in 2000, and the plan was to paint it and put it up somewhere in the house. Six house moves later it’s gone from garage to storage to garage. Unfortunately the glass got broken in 2007 during one of the moves, but the frame was still intact. I managed to buy a similar one from a charity shop with the same size and shape glass, so that’s been moving with us too lol.
The mirror (frame) has been sitting in my study since before Christmas…so yesterday I got the paint out.
I’m pleased with how it’s turned out…next step is to add the glass then it’ll be going up on the wall in the dining room. This frame has been a part of my life since I was a small child, so it will be nice to have it on my wall.
It felt so good to finally get it done. It’s only taken 20 years 🤣 . I wonder if Gretchen has any nagging tasks that have been hanging around for that long? I doubt it lol…but getting it done really did lift my mood 😉 Why do I always put things off?
