Yesterday I managed to catch up with one of my favourite podcasts as I was a few days behind.
In Fridays episode Gemma talked about pulling up the floor in her kitchen. She’d hoped to find a perfect original floor. But discovered that what was underneath was a mish mash of original terracotta tiles and concrete (I know that feeling, we had the same with the whole of our ground floor – original 1930’s floorboards and concrete lol).
It reminded her of the David Brent (Ricky Gervais) quote… “Life is just a series of peaks and troughs, and you don’t know whether you’re in a trough until you’re climbing out, or on a peak until you’re coming down. And that’s it, you know, you never know what’s round the corner. But it’s all good. “If you want the rainbow you’ve got to put up with the rain”. Do you know which “philosopher” said that? Dolly Parton. And people say she’s just a big pair of tits.” 🤣 (I was never a huge fan of The Office but I love Afterlife).
Her message was…success is not linear…tomorrow is another day…life is up and down and progress can often feel like one step forward two steps back…so celebrate the wins, write them down and focus on them.
I’ll be trying that today 😊
